SDWA hands over Kuki man to Taphou Kuki village

SENAPATI, Jul 14 : In yet another humanitarian initiative, the Senapati District Women's Association (SDWA) rescued a Kuki man from the custody of Naga youth volunteers and handed him over to Taphou Kuki village today afternoon.
The incident reportedly occurred when the man, a resident of Taphou Kuki village, went to Senapati Bazar to buy fish along with a Naga friend.
According to reports, some Naga youth volunteers intercepted and detained both of them at the bazaar.
After receiving information about the incident, leaders of Senapati District Women's Association (SDWA) intervened and rescued the Kuki man from the volunteers.
They later escorted him back to Taphou Kuki village. The rescued individual has been identified as Ngamsei Chongloi, aged about 54, s/o Khuplet Chongloi of Taphou Kuki village.
During a handover programme held at the residence of the Taphou Kuki village chief, the village secretary expressed gratitude to the district women's body for extending humanitarian assistance and taking the initiative to escort the man back to the village.
The village secretary also appealed to the district women's body to consider the issue of village youths who use intoxicants and may venture into the bazaar area, despite repeated appeals from villagers to avoid trespassing during the prevailing situation.
Representatives of SDWA urged everyone to avoid unnecessary movement and loitering while unrest continues in the region. The district women's body said its intervention helped prevent the situation from escalating further.
Taphou Kuki village women chairperson also expressed gratitude to SDWA for its humanitarian efforts and contribution towards bringing positive changes in society.
The programme concluded with a benediction prayer by the village women chairperson.
