IMPHAL, Jul 15 : Union Taekwondo Academy have reign supreme yet again to lock in their 19th overall team title, extending their historic record at the 19th Governor’s Taekwondo Cup-2026.
The holders managed to maintain a perfect title streak by securing 22 gold, 25 silver and 31 bronze medals in this edition as Pakhangba Taekwondo Academy finished runners up on 2814 points off 14 gold, 10 silver and 17 bronze medals.
The final day of the championship saw Chenglou Elangbam of UTA securing the Cadet Girls’ U29 kg category title as Khomdram Abenao of HTA beat Larung Manshem Dangshawa for the U-33 kg category title.
The U37 kg category title for Cadet girls went to PTA’s Linthoingambi Lourembam who defeated Huidrom Malemnganbi in the title clash as Serita Ingudam of LTA beat UTA’s Longjam Ritu for the U41 kg category title.
ASTA’s Jennifer Potsangbam meanwhile bagged the Cadet Girls’ U44 kg category title by defeating NSA’s Thokchom Lingjelthoibi as Yumnam Deepika of Khangabok claimed the U47 kg category gold by defeating NSA’s Konjengbam Kecia Chanu.
Keisham Silvia of NSA meanwhile bagged the U51 kg category title by beating HA’s Malemnganbi Mayengbam as UTA’s Velina Takhellambam beat CTIS’s Miranda Rajkumari for the U55 kg category gold and Ngangbam Sonia of NSA beat UTA’s Longjam Dolly for the U59 kg category title.
Kritiva Thangjam of ASTA meanwhile claimed the +59 kg category title by getting the better of Sapam Bidyashree of UTA in the final as K Priyanka of CTIS and Loitongbam Dolika of UTA shared the bronze medal podium.
Notably the 5-day competition organised by the All Manipur Taekwondo Association at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium saw 1181 athletes compete for top honours in various categories.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, and MLA Kongkham Robindro Singh attended the closing ceremony as dignitaries who also led in distributing prizes to the winners.
