Man shoots son to death

IMPHAL, Jul 16 : A man allegedly shot his own son dead at Koutruk Awang Leikai last evening around 6.50.
The deceased has been identified as Ningthoujam Kishan, a resident of Koutruk Awang Leikai under Lamsang police station.
He was the eldest of four siblings.
His father N Samton (57) is absconding with the gun, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
It is reported that Samton shot his son with a single barrel gun following an argument over a family matter.
According to reports, Kishan sustained gunshot injuries to the chest and was taken to Raj Medicity.
However, he succumbed to his injuries and the mortal remains have been deposited at RIMS mortuary.
The deceased is survived by his wife and a daughter.
Lamsang police have registered a case and an investigation is underway.
In connection with the incident, a meeting was convened at Koutruk Awang Leikai today, where local residents resolved to ostracise Samton from the locality.
