Imphal, Jul 16: The Apex Committee of Meetei IDPs Manipur has urged the Government to immediately release the pending Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) assistance for internally displaced persons (IDPs), stating that beneficiaries have not received the financial aid for more than 15 days.
In a statement, the Committee said the delay has caused severe hardship to thousands of displaced families who depend on the DBT ration assistance for their daily survival.
It stated that the financial support is essential for meeting basic needs such as food, children's education, healthcare and other household expenses.
The Committee appealed to the Government to release the pending DBT assistance within the next three days so that affected families can meet their immediate needs.
It also requested that, beginning next month, the DBT assistance be credited on the first day of every month.
According to the Committee, a fixed and timely payment schedule would help IDP families plan their household expenses and reduce unnecessary hardship.
The Committee further appealed to the concerned authorities to take immediate action and ensure that the welfare of internally displaced persons remains a priority.
