IMP/KPI, Jul 15 : Five abandoned houses of Lenglong village located in Noney district under Nungba police station were burnt down by some unidentified armed persons at around 2.30 pm today.
Notably, residents of the village abandoned their homes and moved toward Churachandpur a few months back. As such, the village wore a deserted look.
Meanwhile, the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) said that a combined team of NSCN (IM) and ZUF (K) attacked Lenglong and Teikhang villages in Noney district and set houses on fire today.
Strongly condemning the attack and arson, KIM has urged the Centre  to launch an "immediate and uncompromising counter-terrorism offensive" against NSCN (IM) and its alleged proxy groups, and acknowledge what it termed the failure of the existing State structure.
KIM further asserted that the recurring violence demonstrated that the Kuki-Zo people could no longer safely coexist under the present administrative arrangement and reiterated its demand for a Separate Administration in the form of a Union Territory with Legislature under the Indian Constitution.
