KANGPOKPI, Jul 16 : Days after Kuki miscreants burnt six houses at Kanto Sabal, the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills Kangpokpi, on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the elected representatives of Tamenglong, Noney, Kamjong and Ukhrul, accusing them of failing to uphold their Constitutional responsibilities after two Kuki-Zo villages were allegedly set ablaze in Nungba subdivision, Tamenglong district.
The Committee alleged that aggression against Kuki-Zo habitations has continued unabated in Noney, Tamenglong, Kamjong and Ukhrul districts, while the elected representatives from these districts have chosen to turn a blind eye and remain mute spectators.
CoTU alleged that Lengluong and Teikhang villages in Tamenglong district were torched in the afternoon of July 15 by cadres of the NSCN (IM) and the ZUF (Kamson faction), describing the attack as part of a continuing campaign of violence against Kuki-Zo habitations.
The Committee also urged both the Centre and the Manipur Government to take decisive action against "secessionist and transnational armed groups".
