PWD to implement Social Security Code

IMPHAL, Jul 17 : The Manipur PWD Employees and Workers Association has stated that the Public Works Department, Government of Manipur will be the first department in the State to implement the Social Security Code, 2020.
In a press note issued on July 16, the Association said the move will benefit MR and casual employees who have served in the department for over 30 years.
It noted that the Code, introduced by the NDA Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will provide new hope to long-serving workers and help ensure industrial harmony.
The Association further stated that since Ch Bishwachandra Singh took charge as Chief Engineer, a Grievances Redressal Committee has been formed under Section 9C of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 for PWD employees.
It added that implementation of the Social Security Code will enable employees to avail benefits such as EPF, ESI, and Systematic Identification Number.
To discuss this, a Special General Body Meeting will be held on July 20, 2026 at 1 pm at the PWD Conference Hall, Khuyathong.
All MR, casual and eligible employees have been urged to attend.
