State level marathon on Aug 13 to honour patriots

IMPHAL, Jul 17 : The Patriotic Day Observation Committee, Manipur, along with Athletic Association of Manipur, Lamyamba Hijam Irabot Ningshing Lup, United Club Yaiskul, Yaiskul Athletic Club and Celin Digital Manipur will organise the 1st State Level Open Marathon Race for men and women on August 13.
Announcing this at Manipur Press Club on Friday, Committee advisor Rajkumar Dilip said the race, titled “Athoubasing-Gee Khongul Leeba”, is aimed at remembering patriots who sacrificed their lives during British rule.
Interested participants can collect forms for Rs 200 from August 1 to August 8. Forms will be available in all districts. Details can be obtained from the organisers.
The race will start at 8 am from Thoubal Mela Ground and conclude at YAC Ground, Yaiskul. Cash prizes of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 will be given to the top three finishers.
