IMPHAL, Jul 17 : The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Students’ Union (RIMSSU), in collaboration with the Dean’s Office and the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS, Imphal, organised a Blood Donation Camp today at the Department of Transfusion Medicine.
The camp was organised following a meeting between the Director, Dean (Academics), Sub-Deans and RIMSSU office bearers.
The meeting discussed the need to promote voluntary blood donation to bridge the gap between the growing demand for safe blood and its availability. Recognising the role of medical students in the drive, it was unanimously decided to hold the camp.
The camp received an enthusiastic response. Around 65 students were screened for eligibility, of whom 28 successfully donated blood for patients in need. Many donated for the first time, while several repeat donors also took part, showing compassion and social responsibility.
RIMS Director, Dean (Academics) and authorities congratulated the donors for their selfless contribution. The Dean’s Office presented each donor with a Certificate of Blood Donation, a Blood Donor Badge and refreshments.
Organisers thanked the faculty and staff of the Department of Transfusion Medicine for ensuring the smooth conduct of the camp.
