IMPHAL, Jul 18: A volunteer group named Rapid Response Team (RRT) has been formed under the Naga Humanitarian Aid Committee Manipur (NHACM) to check violation of the ongoing inter-district economic blockade.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, NHACM co-convenor Amana Thaimei reminded that the mutilated bodies of the six innocent Nagas who were murdered in the most barbaric manner by Kukis are still lying in JNIMS mortuary.
Demanding justice for the barbaric murders, Naga and Meitei CSOs have been enforcing an inter-district economic blockade.
Amana Thaimei said that the NHACM is formed to strengthen the ongoing collective movement of the indigenous communities and to protect the indigenous people.
Announcing that an RRT has been formed, she said that the team will visit different places and check violations of the inter-district economic blockade.
Warning that it will be a very costly blunder if anyone is taking the sustained aggression targeting indigenous people lightly, Amana Thaimei appealed to all sections of people to support the ongoing democratic agitation.
The RRT will keep a close watch on these elements who have been supplying commodities to Kukis surreptitiously in defiance of the collective agitation of hill and valley CSOs, she said.
Those people who have been supplying commodities to Kukis surreptitiously should be held accountable for any untoward incident if they are caught by the RRT , she warned.
A complaint has been lodged at Sekmai police station to register an FIR against the 57 Mountain Division in connection with the burning of Meitei houses at Leimakhong right in front of 57 Mountain Division, she said.
She then asked the State Police to inform the public if any action has been taken regarding the complaint.
In case the State Police has not yet taken any action, necessary measures will be taken through legal channels, she added.
