Highway patrol team formed in Noney

In a significant initiative to enhance the safety and security of commuters along National Highway-37, Noney Deputy Commissioner Vidhyamari Sridhar has constituted a Highway Patrol Team to curb extortion-related activities, facilitate regular road maintenance and ensure smooth movement of traffic.
The Highway Patrol Team comprises one Executive Magistrate from the District Administration, officials from the Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and representatives of the agencies engaged in the construction and maintenance of NH-37.
The team will conduct regular patrols and inspections along the highway to prevent extortion, address issues affecting commuters, review the progress and quality of ongoing road maintenance works and ensure effective coordination among all stakeholder agencies.
The initiative also aims to facilitate prompt resolution of issues that may hinder the safe and uninterrupted movement of vehicles.
The District Administration reiterated that the safety and security of commuters plying along NH-37 is of paramount importance to the Government.
All concerned departments and agencies have been directed to work in close coordination to maintain law and order, improve road conditions and provide a safe travel environment for the public.
DC Vidhyamari Sridhar appealed to all transporters, commercial vehicle operators, and members of the public to cooperate with the Highway Patrol Team and immediately report any incidents of extortion, intimidation or other unlawful activities to the nearest authority.
