IMPHAL, Jul 2 : Amidst the escalating tension between Nagas and Kukis in Kangpokpi and Kamjong districts,  Miracle Healing Prayer Ministry, Nagaland director, Nangba Konyak visited Makhan village to meet and pray for the families of the six men who were brutally killed after their abduction from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13 last.
“I brought nothing for you but I came here representing the Konyak people just to pray with you and to show you our solidarity and concerns for you during this hard time,” Nangba Konyak said to the families who have been temporarily staying at Makhan village on Thursday.
Nangba Konyak hails from Mon district, Nagaland near Indo-Myanmar border.
“I can understand the mental trauma you’re facing, but as Christians, we must learn to forgive those who persecute us. This is the real essence of Christianity,” Konyak said to the families.
Apparently shocked to witness the plight of the displaced Liangmai people particularly, the victim families, Konyak also appealed to the Nagas of Nagaland to extend solidarity and help.
"As Naga Christians, we should come out to help when our brothers are in trouble... I appeal to all the Churches in Nagaland to show their solidarity during this time,” Konyak said.
Konyak travelled from extreme north of Nagaland taking 2 days to reach Imphal and pray for the IDPs at Makhan village and those who are hospitalized in the Psychiatric Ward at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal. At least 170 internally displaced Liangmai people, mostly women and children, from Konsakhul are presently housed at Makhan village community hall.
It may be noted that three Thadou Pastors were killed in an ambush by unknown armed militants on May 13 while returning from Churachandpur after attending a programme.
Soon after the news of the killing, 18 Liangmai Nagas from Konsakhul village were abducted at Leilon Vaiphei village and 14 Kukis were also held captive on hearing the abduction of the Nagas.
While the other hostages were released, dismembered bodies of the six Naga men including two Pastors were recovered on June 10.
