1st MNCA Women’s U19 T20 Trophy Sumeiya, Barkatun power FORCE to 121-run victory over SU

IMPHAL, Jul 2 : Sumeiya’s half century knock and Barkatun Khanam’s four wicket haul guided FORCE to a comprehensive 121-run victory over SU today in a Group A encounter of the ongoing 1st MNCA Women’s U19 T20 Trophy.
FORCE, who suffered their first game loss before bouncing back with a 9-wicket win over PTRC in the second game,  piled up a daunting total of 144 runs for 4 wickets and bundled out SU for a paltry total of 23 runs within 9.5 overs at Khudeiband Lampak today.
FORCE posted the challenging total thanks to opener Sumeiya Shahni’s unbeaten 70 off 71 balls. She knocked 8 fours on the way to her 70. She combined with Kh Rukshad (13 off 16 balls) for the first wicket partnership of 53 runs before taking FORCE to 144 by stitching an unbeaten 44-run partnership with Mukida (10 not out off 20 balls) for the fifth wicket.
Ayekpam Bhumika picked two wickets (2/21) for SU as Salam Redhi claimed one (1/33).
In reply, SU batters collapsed with a house of cards and were all out for 23 runs as 6 batters including both the openers were dismissed on ducks.
Barkatun Khanam shone with a four-for (4/9 in 2.5 overs) in the innings as she ran through the top and the lower order batters. She was ably supported by E Firdos Hasina (1/5), Nazmin Khanam (1/6), Rahamatun (1/3) and Wakila Shani (1/0).
Sumeiya, who led the batting department for FORCE and was involved in dismissing SU’s highest scorer of the day-Lanchebi (8 off 7 balls), was adjudged player of the match.
Sapam Kebriya’s ton in vain as rain plays spoilsport
Sapam Kebriya scored an unbeaten 107 off 61 balls laden with 18 fours and 1 six to power SHADOW to 226/4 against MPA in a Group B match at THAU Ground but rain forced the match to be abandoned.
Victoria Thokchom (40 off 34 balls; 5 fours and 1 six) and Viviene Laishram (34 off 19 balls; 6 fours) also made double digit figures for SHADOW after MPA won the toss and opted to field first.
For MPA, Salainganbi Thokchom returned with the bowling figures of 2/25.
With the match being abandoned, MPA got yet another point after their opening game loss while SHADOW were recovering from two opening game losses.
