Locals threaten to close road

IMPHAL, Jul 19: Ningthemkol FCI road in Imphal West will be closed if it is not repaired by July 30, said local Meira Paibis today.
Speaking to reporters at a press meet held at the local Meira Shang (shed), Meira Paibi leader Tongbram Memcha said the road under Patsoi Assembly Constituency has been kept neglected for more than 10 years.
While a representation was earlier submitted to the local MLA, no action has been taken up to repair the dilapidated road, she said.
The bad condition of the road has caused many accidents. If no step is taken up to repair the road till July 30, the road will be closed to all vehicular movement from the next day, she said, representing the locals.
Ningthemkol FCI road is one of the vital roads in the area used by the public including students of many schools. The Government and relevant authorities should take up immediate steps to repair the road, Memcha said.
