MGSF suspends agitation

IMPHAL, Jul 22: The cease work strike launched by Government employees has been suspended after 22 days today following a meeting of the employees' associations.
The cease work strike was launched making a series of demands including extension of service period, implementation of 8th Pay Commission, a hike in DA/DR, restoration of Old Pension Scheme, holiday on Saturdays and an end to recruitment on contractual basis among others.
Notably, the Government had agreed to two of the demands, increasing DA/DR by 3 percent, and declaring Saturdays as holiday.
Speaking to reporters at the office of the Manipur State Pensioners' Union at Pishum Thong, Manipur Government Services Federation president Laishram Sarat said the decision to suspend the strike was taken during a meeting of employees' associations on Tuesday.
Representatives of the Manipur Government Services Federation, Manipur State Pensioners' Union, Manipur Secretariat Services Drivers' Association took part in the meeting, which discussed several issues including inconveniences people were facing due to the cease work strike.
To ease the inconveniences people were facing, the associations decided to suspend the strike. The inconveniences caused to the public are unfortunate, he said.
