IMPHAL, Jul 22: The Zeliangrong United Front has been compelled to flush out anti-Zeliangrong elements from Zeliangrong areas, it said, accusing the NSCN-IM of carrying out "anti-people activities" and manipulating Zeliangrong youths to be recruited as volunteers "in the name of war against Kukis".
In a statement, the ZUF said the NSCN-IM's  game is to create confusion, fear, and division in the society in collusion with the "Kamson group and some self-styled individuals and organizations."
"Ill motivated Zeliangrong youths are being manipulated to act against their own people. The rationale and logic of Zeliangrong political maturity and goodwill have been distorted with their resentful act to destroy the unity of understanding, progress and prosperity of the Zeliangrong people," it said.
Anti-social elements are deliberately creating serious unrest in Zeliangrong areas, sabotaging the peace process with "the selfish and expansionist interests of NSCN-IM," it alleged.
Further, the ZUF alleged it has verified and confirmed 6-7 illegal check posts that have been forcibly installed along National Highway-37 by NSCN-IM cadres and their proxies.
"These elements are being played to extort money and goods from daily commuters, transporters, and innocent civilians causing much concern and inconveniences to the general public," it claimed.
"Therefore, the ZUF is compelled to flush out every anti-Zeliangrong element operating in Zeliangrong areas. Any individual, group, organization, or volunteer found involved with NSCN-IM and Kamson Group shall do so at their own peril. There will be no further warning intimation but to commit as planned," it said. The ZUF is committed to defending the lives, properties, and dignity of the Zeliangrong people at all costs. "We call upon all communities to stand together and cooperate in this fight for a shared, peaceful, and dignified future," it said.
