IMPHAL, Jul 22: The armed group KCP(PWG) MU Unification has derided the homecoming ceremony held yesterday at Mantripukhri Garrison, Hqs IG AR(S) as an attempt to tarnish its image.
Under the leadership of Chairman Lamyanba Khuman and Vice Chairman Poirei Meitei, KCP(PWG) MC Unification has been fighting to win back the independence of Kangleipak (Manipur) for the last many years, said a press release issued by the outfit’s PRO Chingkheinganba. It said that none of its cadres took part in any homecoming ceremony.
There was nothing to be surprised when Assam Rifles and the army staged such fake surrender dramas or homecoming ceremonies, it said. There were many incidents in the past where such fake surrender dramas or homecoming ceremonies were staged using rickshaw pullers and drug users, it said.
As for Laishram Ranjit alias Tam-Nganba who claimed to be the Chairman of KCP (PWG), he was already expelled from the party for anti-social and anti-party activities along with Md Mani alias Ning-Tamba of Paobitek Mayai Leikai, Moirangthem Mohen alias Pari-Macha of Tera and Oinam Somendro alias Lan-Ngamba of Karang, it said
The outfit said that it never issued any single barrel or double barrel guns to any of its cadre.
It went on to allege that the weapons displayed at the homecoming ceremony were purchased by Assam Rifles from Kukis. It was both surprising and unfortunate that the State Government took part in the fake surrender drama as a witness, the outfit remarked.
