IMPHAL, Jul 23 : The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) Eastern Flank has declared the formation of a 'Provisional Government' with Ikato I Chishi Swu as its Chairman.
The decision was taken during a joint emergency meeting of Civil National Workers and Naga Army Officers held on July 21 at Mt Horeb Camp under the chairmanship of Lt Gen (retd) Hs Ramsan, said the outfit in a statement.
During the meeting, participants declared earlier expulsion orders issued by NSCN (IM) against several senior leaders, including Lt Gen (retd) Hs Ramsan, Lt Gen A Raman, Lt Col (retd) Victor Angami, Ikato I Chishi Swu, Rev Vitovi Yeputho and others, as "null and void," it added.
The meeting alleged that those who have surrendered and yielded to the pressure of the Government of India have no right to expel/terminate those who remain steadfast in striving for the sovereign existence of the 'Naga Nation'.
The gathering also strongly criticised the "Competencies" submitted by the NSCN (IM) leadership to the Government of India, alleging that they compromise the Naga political cause by accepting a settlement within the framework of the Indian Constitution.
The ‘Competencies’ also violated the preamble of the Yehzabo, it claimed.
Saying that the Government of India (GoI) had served a three-month ultimatum, from August to October 2019, to the NSCN (IM), stating that there would be no further talks on the issues of a separate Flag and a separate Constitution for the Nagas, it alleged that the leadership at Hebron/GHQ, however, continued to engage in “meaningless and endless talks” with the compromised and surrendered “competencies” within the framework of the Indian Constitution.
Further claiming that the spirit of the Ceasefire Agreement ceased to exist from the day the GoI allegedly betrayed the Frame- work Agreement, the meeting resolved that the Eastern Flank would continue both political and armed resistance to safeguard the Naga Nation.
The meeting further alleged that the NSCN (IM) had failed to take the necessary steps despite the betrayal of the Framework Agreement by the GoI.
It also referred to a statement issued by NSCN (IM) Ato Kilonser Th Muivah on November 7, 2024, in which he said that the outfit would resume armed resistance against India if the Framework Agreement was rejected.
However, the meeting claimed that the NSCN (IM) had failed to take the steps outlined in Muivah’s statement.
It said that the Eastern Flank decided to establish the 'Provisional Government to rescue the Naga political movement from its present predicament.'
According to the outfit, members of the 'Provisional Government' are Ikato I Chishi Swu (Chairman), Lt Gen (retd) Hs Ramsan (VC, Member), Lt Col (retd) Victor Angami (Member), Lt Gen A Raman (MM, MC, Member), Brig Detail Dani (Member), Angyo Jacob Jingseya (Member), Ngaranmi Jagoi (Advisor), Merry Ramson (Advisor) and Rev Vitovi Yeputho (Advisor).
It appealed to all Naga National workers and the wider Naga public to join the formation of the unified National Government 'that upholds the principles of the party's founding fathers.'
