CJP protest instigated by Oppn : Govindas

IMPHAL, Jul 23: The protest in Delhi by some sections of the youths was instigated by Opposition political parties to disturb the monsoon session of the Parliament and malign India's image as the largest democracy, said Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, apparently referring to the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) stir.
Addressing the media at the party's office today, Govindas alleged that the CJP Delhi protest was designed by the Opposition.
Disguised as a youth protest, the Delhi protest is politically motivated and designed to malign the Government's and India's image, he said, alleging that the youths were being used as tools "to disrupt and break the Parliament".
The Parliament, he said, has adjourned multiple times without any successful discussion of several key issues.
The Opposition parties want to sow chaos and disrupt the monsoon session. They don't want any meaningful discussions to take place in the Parliament. So, the youths are being used as tools to get their objective, Govindas said.
Notably, the CJP has been staging massive protest demonstrations in Delhi's Jantar Mantar demanding resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over NEET paper leaks and marking irregularities.
Meanwhile, Govindas claimed the protest was fuelled by Opposition parties, including the Congress, AAP, Samajwadi Party and Communist Party--"parties which lost elections to the BJP".
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been placing special focus on the youths of India, some are keen on compromising and destroying the future of the youths, Govindas said.
He said the PM has vowed to punish those destroying the future of the youths, said Govindas and added that Modi has talked about constituting Fast Track Courts [to ensure swift and stringent punishment of those involved in NEET paper leaks].
Further commenting on the Delhi protest, Govindas alleged that the youths are being used as shields by the Opposition parties.
He also alleged that the protest may have received foreign funds from countries which want to see India in chaos and backtrack in terms of development.
Even as the Opposition parties are trying their best to sow chaos, all of their attempts are failing, Govindas said.
Under Prime Minister Modi, India is moving toward achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047, and none can stop this, he said.
On the CJP, Govindas clarified that the Chief Justice of India had used the term cockroaches to describe only those who were holding fake degrees.
The term "cockroaches" did not mean the whole of the youths. The CJI's statement was misinterpreted to suit the agenda of those who want to destroy the future of the youths, disrupt the Parliament, and show India's democracy in poor light, Govindas said.
He advised Manipur youths not to be swayed by the protest in Delhi and urged them to wait for the Fast Track Court to deliver justice, and also called on them to stay united and work together to bring lasting peace to Manipur.
Notably, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant had made a remark during a May 2026 hearing that certain jobless youth and fraudulent degree holders were acting like "cockroaches" and "parasites" attacking the system. This remark enraged youths and later a satirical youth movement under the name  (CJP) took the social media by storm.
Several MLAs including Paonam Brojen, Sapam Ranjan, Heikham Dingo, Dinganglung Gangmei, Ashab Uddin, State BJP pre-sident-in-charge Nongthom- bam Nimbus, and general secretaries, K Saratkumar, P Premananda and Deben were present in the press meet.
