IMPHAL, Jul 23: Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam has stated that two reports have been received on the demolition of a bridge which connected villages of the Chatric area with the Kamjong district headquarters on July 22, 2026.
Briefing media persons at Thambal Shanglen, Nityaipat Chuthek here today, the Home Minister stated that the State Government has received two inconsistent reports so far but none of them is a official.
One report says that the particular bridge was demolished by armed men who came from across the international border.
The second report says that the bridge was demolished by militants based inside Manipur to deter movement of security forces, particularly Assam Rifles, Govindas said.
Nonetheless, the State Government has been investigating the incident to ascertain who demolished the bridge and why, he said.
Govindas assured that he would inform the media as soon as an authentic report is received on which group demolished the bridge.
