KANGPOKPI, Jul 25 : The Kuki Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) Working Committee of Ukhrul has suspended their proposed counter blockade till July 26.
The Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul (WCKCSOs-Ukhrul), said the decision to suspend the proposed counter blockade was taken following a joint meeting of Kuki-Zo civil society leaders held in Kangpokpi on July 24.
The committee said the suspension of the blockade was made in view of ongoing negotiations led by the leadership of Kuki-Zo civil society organisations from Ukhrul and Kangpokpi.
Another round of talks with the Government authorities has been scheduled to explore a "just, honourable and lasting settlement" to the ongoing economic crisis.
The CSOs said they had unanimously resolved to leave "no stone unturned" in pursuing a democratic resolution to the crisis but cautioned that their willingness to engage in dialogue should not be misconstrued as weakness.
The committee appealed to the public to remain calm, and vigilant during the negotiation process, stating that the next course of action would be announced after the meeting.
