Regeneration Month

IMPHAL, Jul 27: The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) today kicked off its Regeneration Month 2026 at TG Higher Secondary School here.
The month-long campaign was kicked off at a function attended by AMSU president Lukram Malang-ba, former AMSU president and advisor Thokchom Suresh and TG Higher Secondary School Vice Prin- cipal in-charge Nongmai-them Dhana as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Lukram Malangba said that the AMSU has been observing August 27 as Hunger Marchers’ Day (Chaklam Khonghcat) in commemoration of the historic protest of 1965 against the policy failures of the then Government which resulted in artificial famine in the State.
During the historic protest taken out on August 27, 1965, three student leaders and a staff driver of All India Radio (AIR), Imphal were killed in police firing, he said.
Like in the previous years, AMSU will observe Hunger Marchers’ Day on August 27 this year too.
From July 27 to August 27, AMSU will observe Regeneration Month and it will culminate with the observation of Hunger Marchers’ Day, Malangba said.
