Imphal, Jul 2 : Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand has stated that job card holders will now be entitled to 125 days guaranteed employment under the newly launched Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G), instead of the earlier 100 days under MGNREGA.
The Chief Minister made the statement while attending the State-level Jan Sammelan-cum-launching programme of VB-G RAM G, organised by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj at Salam Tharoijam Eco Tourism Park, Imphal West, today.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister stressed that the daily wages for job card holders have also been increased from Rs 283 to Rs 300.
The VB-G RAM G initiative would help in fulfilling the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen also attended the programme through video conferencing.
She said that VB–G RAM G should also become a platform for convergence.
"By linking it with agriculture, horticulture, watershed development, soil conservation, Jal Jeevan Mission, rural water conservation, and NRLM livelihood initiatives, we can create durable, useful, and climate-resilient assets for our rural communities," she added.
Delivering his presidential speech, Sorokhaibam Rajen Singh, MLA of Lamsang AC MLA, lauded the Chief Minister for visiting areas that had remained inaccessible due to the law-and-order situation as part of his peace initiative.
Sumant Singh, Commissioner of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, (RD & PR), stated that the scheme was passed by Parliament on December 19, 2025.
Under the new scheme, each Gram Panchayat will prepare its own development plan and will be graded under categories A, B, C and D, he explained
He further informed that the grading will be carried out by the State Government and that the entire programme will be based on the PM Gati Shakti geospatial portal.
The Nationwide launching of the programme was led by the Union Minister for Rural Development (RD) and Panchayati Raj (PR) Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
Khemchand Singh, along with other dignitaries, planted saplings as part of the programme.
The programme was attended by Minister for Art and Culture and Tourism Khuraijam Loken Singh, MLAs Karam Shyam (Langthabal AC), Dr Sapam Ranjan (Konthoujam AC), Sapam Kunjakeswor (Patsoi AC), Imphal West DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, staff of RD & PR and the members of the public among others.
