TAMENGLONG, Jul 3: The Working Committee of the Joint Tribes Council (JTC), Manipur, has expressed its deepest gratitude and appreciation to all indigenous communities of Manipur for their participation in the sit-in protest held at Changangei Community Hall, Imphal West, on June 30.
In a statement, the Working Committee acknowledged the collective participation and peaceful conduct of the people who came together to voice their concerns and demand justice for the six Naga civilians who were allegedly murdered and their bodies mutilated.
The committee stated that the protest reflected the community’s demand for accountability, security and protection of indigenous identity. It lauded the discipline, patience and peaceful manner displayed by the participants despite the pain and anger surrounding the incident.
“The protest was not only about the loss of six precious lives, but about the values of justice, truth and unity,” the committee said, adding that the overwhelming response demonstrated the strength and solidarity of the people.
The Working Committee also appreciated the support extended by civil society organisations, student bodies, women’s groups, elders, religious leaders and well-wishers who contributed their voices and support towards the cause.
Reaffirming its commitment, the JTC-Manipur said it would continue to pursue the matter until justice is delivered, the demands are fulfilled, and the dignity and security of every indigenous community in Manipur are restored.
The committee further called for unity among all communities, stating that collective strength would help build a Manipur based on peace, equality and mutual respect.
