3 held with drugs at CCpur

IMPHAL, Jul 3 : Police arrested three residents of Churachandpur and seized 186 soap cases of brown sugar weighing 2.5 kilograms, over Rs 31.4 lakh cash and a cash counting machine yesterday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Zamngaihlian Tombing (48) of Zion Veng, Niangaihching (43) and Manglunsang Tawtak (36), both of Pangzawl.
They were arrested from their respective residences, said the police.
From their possession, the police recovered 186 soap cases of brown sugar weighing around 2.5 kilograms, Rs 31,43,500 cash, a Bolero vehicle and a cash counting machine.
In recent days, State police and security forces in neighbouring States had arrested several Manipur residents with drugs.
On July 1, security forces arrested two persons and seized 168 soap cases containing 2.1 kilograms of heroin worth around Rs 4 crore in Imphal East district.
The two arrested were identified as Bigyan Baniya (21) of Tuilangphai, Kangpokpi and Manoj Chettry (27) of Kohima Sadar, Nagaland.
On June 30 in Assam, Cachar police and Assam Rifles had arrested two women residents of Tamenglong's Tollen village and seized 30,000 Yaba tablets and 535 grams of heroin worth Rs 9.5 crore. On June 29, a woman resident of Chandel was arrested by Mizoram police and Assam Rifles at Seling, Aizawl. From her possession, the joint team of the Mizoram Police and Assam Rifles recovered 150.97 grams of heroin worth Rs 1.13 crore. On June 29, Manipur police had also arrested two Rajasthan residents at Jiribam and seized 5 kilograms of opium.
