IMPHAL, Jul 4 : Stating that the unavailability of fish and poultry feed has put the livelihoods of many farmers at risk, the Manipur Poultry Development Association (MPDA) has urged the Government to arrange security escorts for trucks transporting such essential supplies to Imphal.
Addressing the media at the Manipur Press Club, MPDA general secretary Chingtham Drubatara said the shortage of feed has severely affected poultry and fish farming activities across the State.
He called for urgent Government intervention to ensure smooth supply chains.
Maintaining that there is no alternative to the feed, he urged the Government to treat poultry and fish feed as essential commodities and take necessary steps to address the crisis.
He further said that several loaded trucks have been stranded on highways for days and urged the authorities to take the issue seriously and address the grievances of those affected.
