MAYOL holds public meeting

THOUBAL, Jul 4: As part of its year-long campaign titled "Politics: Vote for National Regeneration," the Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) organised a public awareness meeting on ethical and informed voting at Leishangthem Awang Leikai Bazar Community Hall in Thoubal district on Saturday.
The programme was organised in collaboration with Leishangthem Apunba Lup with the objective of encouraging responsible voting and promoting electoral reforms.
The awareness meeting was attended by social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram, Assistant Professor of the Department of Manipuri, Manipur University, Dr Naorem Sanatomba, Leishangthem Apunba Lup president Heigrujam Priyokumar, and MAYOL president Koijam Suresh, among others.
During the meeting, the speakers stressed the importance of electing capable, honest and deserving candidates who can work for the welfare and development of society. They urged the public to actively support MAYOL's campaign aimed at strengthening democratic values through ethical voting.
The speakers also appealed to voters not to sell their votes or compromise their democratic rights for short-term benefits, stating that the quality of governance depends largely on the choices made by citizens during elections.
Emphasising that politics shapes the direction and future of society, they called upon people to participate responsibly in the democratic process and exercise their franchise with integrity and informed judgment.
