Bomb found planted

IMPHAL, Jul 5: A hand grenade was found at the residence of former Thongju Assembly Constituency MLA Bijoy Koijam at Thongju Pheijaleitong last night.
According to reports, the explosive was discovered inside the premises of the former legislator's residence at around 11 pm. Police personnel were immediately informed and rushed to the spot.
The hand grenade was safely recovered by the police, who have registered a case.
Condemning the incident, members of the Pheijaleitong Meira Paibi and the Students' Welfare Committee staged a sit-in protest at the locality today.
Speaking to the media, the protesters strongly denounced the planting of a hand grenade at a residential area, stating that such acts pose a serious threat to the lives and safety of innocent residents.
They said targeting a densely populated locality could have resulted in a major tragedy.
Appealing to the group or individuals responsible to come forward and clarify the motive behind the act, the protesters urged that any differences or grievances should be resolved through dialogue rather than violence or intimidation.
