IMPHAL, Jul 5: The Justice for the Six Sons of Koubru United Committee (J6SKUC), under the aegis of the Joint Tribes Council (JTC), continued its peaceful campaign for justice at Sangaiprou Kabui Khul, Imphal West today.
The sit-in demonstration, participated by local residents, women, youth, elders, and representatives of community organisations, expressed solidarity with the families of the six Liangmai Naga civilians who were abducted and brutally killed, and reiterated their demand for justice.
They urged the Government to take immediate and decisive action against persons involved in the abduction of the six Naga men from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13 and their killing. The protesters carried placards and raised slogans demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of all perpetrators, abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) Agreement, declaration of the Kuki National Front (KNF-P) as a terrorist organisation, removal of Nemcha Kipgen as Deputy Chief Minister, and eviction of all illegal villages.
The protesters said they are seeking justice, accountability, and the restoration of the rule of law. They emphasised that those responsible for the abduction and brutal killing of the six Liangmai Naga civilians must be brought to justice without delay.
J6SKUC leaders reiterated that the public movement will continue peacefully across different parts of Manipur until justice is delivered by prosecuting the perpetrators of the heinous crime and the committee's demands are fulfilled.
The Government of India and the Government of Manipur must uphold the rule of law and demonstrate that no individual or organisation is above the law, said the committee leaders.
