Accident kills one

IMPHAL, Jul 5: A 17-year-old boy was killed and another 20-year-old was injured when a two-wheeler vehicle rammed into a parked vehicle on Asian Highway-1 in Wangjing area, Thoubal district today.
The deceased has been identified as Elangbam Mahesh, son of E Biren, a resident of Heirok Part-II Keithel Maning.
He was pillion riding on a TVS NTORQ scooter when it rammed into a Maruti van, parked near the Wangjing Toll Tax, under Thoubal police station at around 12:10 am.
Mahesh succumbed on the spot.
Police have picked up the body and deposited it at JNIMS Mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Mayengbam Renedy (20), who is believed to be the one riding the two-wheeler, was injured and was rushed to JNIMS Hospital.
Mayengbam Renedy hails from Laimayum Leikai, Heirok Part-II, and is the son of M Meneshwor.
Police said the two wheeler was coming from the Wangjing side towards Thoubal when it hit the rear of the parked Maruti Van on the left side of the road.
