MGSF appeals for support

IMPHAL, Jul 5: The Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) has appealed to all employees of the State Government to support and extend solidarity to the ongoing cease work strike launched from July 4.
Speaking to media persons at the office of Pensioners’ Union, Pishumthong today, MGSF president L Sarat announced that employees of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) Department have been exempted from the ongoing cease work strike in view of the upcoming State Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup.
Saying that the cease work strike is a collective struggle to secure the rights and entitlements of all employees, Sarat appealed to all employees to support each other.
The MGSF president said that the agitation will go until the demands of employees are fulfilled.
Key demands of the employees are; raising the age of superannuation from 60 to 62, granting DA to State Government employees at par with Central Government employees, establishment of a State pay commission for implementation of the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission, revival of OPS in place of NPS/UPS, abolition of the practice of re-engagement of retired officers and regularisation of existing Contract, Casual and Muster Roll employees rather than recruitment of fresh Contract or Casual employees.
Sarat said that they talked with the Chief Secretary on their demands on July 3 and the Chief Secretary assured that necessary rules and regulations will be drafted within three weeks for implementation of OPS.
The Chief Secretary also assured that a service rule will be enacted soon to streamline the working of all employees, according to the MGSF president.
Pointing out that the State Government took nine years the complete the process of  recruiting 300 MTS, he questioned how the Government will fill up the many posts lying vacant for years in several departments.
Sarat said that Manipur is becoming one of the top States in India where maximum cases are fought in Courts between the Government and its employees.
He urged the Government to consider the employees’ demands and fulfil them at the earliest.
