IMPHAL, Jul 7: Womenfolk of different communities today joined a protest demonstration at Meitei Langol Aying Mayai Leikai demanding justice for civilians killed by Kuki militants.
The protest demonstration, organised under the aegis of 5 civil society organisations, AMUCO, AMAWOVA, Porei Leimarol, COHR and MSF, was attended by members of Tangkhul, Mao, Maring, Chiru and Meitei communities.
During the demonstration, the protesters recalled and condemned the killing of two children in a bomb attack in Tronglaobi in April and brutal murder of several civilians including six Nagas who were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei Kuki village on May 13.
Even after many civilians including children have been killed in attacks carried out by Kuki militants, the Government of India and the Manipur Government have failed to arrest the perpetrators and deliver justice, said the women protesters.
Even after the "involvement" of SoO Kuki militants in heinous and barbaric killings have become clear, the Government has not scrapped the pact (SoO) and cracked down on the militants, they said.
The protesters accused Central security forces of being biased and demanded their removal from Manipur.
AMUCO vice president Helen Koijam, COHR chairman Phulindro Konsam, AMAWOVA general secretary Kshetrimayum Sujata, Porei Leimarol general secretary Apabi and members of different civil bodies and local leaders took part in the protest.
The protest demonstration was supported by the Langol Women Development Association, Langol Leimakhullen Chingmee-Tamee Nupi Yaipha Thourang Lup and Langol Relief Camp.
