State Level Inter School Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament for U17 boys and girls underway

IMPHAL, Jul 7 : The State Level Inter School Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament for U17 boys and girls organised by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports kicked off today at Langjing Achouba Football Turf ground.
6 district teams are participating in both the boys and girls’ competition for the two spots in the Subroto Cup International Inter-School football tournament.
The tournament was formally opened in the presence of Konthoujam Govindas, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports; Dr Mayengbam Veto, Director Youth Affairs and Sports; L Ibomcha, Dronacharya Awardee (Boxing); Padmashree N Kunjarani (Weightlifter); and Padmashree O Bembem (Footballer) as presidium members.
Boys
In the boys’ opening match (Group A), St Peter’s Higher Secondary School representing Chandel district played out a 1-1 draw with Chil Chil Asian Mission School, representing Kangpokpi district.
In another Group A match, ASUFII Christian Institute, Senapati thumped St Peter’s Higher Secondary School by 2-0 goals.
In the Group B opener, TG English School, Bishnupur got the better of Kakching Higher Secondary School, Kakching by 6-1 goals.
Girls
In the Group B opening match of the girls’ competition, Meitei Mayek High School, Imphal East crushed Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Tengnoupal 18-0.
