IMPHAL, Jul 8 : Chief Minister Yumnam Khem-chand has stated that security forces are unable to arrest five persons involved in the killing of six Naga hostages as they have been hiding in thick forests.
The Chief Minister made this statement today while interacting with a group of protesters at Namdilong, Imphal West on his way back from Mao. The protesters were demanding justice for the six hostages butchered by Kukis.
The case is being investigated by the NIA and there is little room for the State Government to meddle with. Even if it takes time, justice will be delivered definitely, the Chief Minister stated.
“The Chief Minister of a State is not the Chief Minister of any single community. As the CM of Manipur, I see and treat all communities as equals”, Khemchand said.
Asserting that it will be hard to restore peace in the State as long as illegal arms are wielded, the Chief Minister declared that all illegal arms will be seized irrespective of whether the wielders of these illegal arms are Meiteis, Nagas or Kukis.
