Guv, CM pay last respect to slain AR men

IMPHAL, Jul 8: Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister Y Khemchand today paid their last respects to the two Assam Rifles personnel killed in an ambush on July 6, 2026 in Ukhrul district.
The Governor and the Chief Minister laid wreaths  on the mortal remains of the two soldiers at Imphal Airport this morning.
Acknowledging their dedicated service and sacrifice in the line of duty, Khemchand also observed a moment of silence in honour of Warrant Officer Balwant Singh and Havildar Chandra Mohan Singh who were killed in the ambush.    
Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, MLAs, GOC 3 Corps Lt Gen Girish Kalia, IGAR(S) Maj Gen Gaurav Sharma and other senior officers of Assam Rifles and the Army also attended the wreath laying ceremony.   Many senior civil and police officials too attended the wreath laying ceremony during which a guard of honour was accorded to the departed AR personnel.
