CCpur, Oct 12: The discovery of an IED on a roadside along the Tedim Road at Zohar Phaipham located in between Leisang and S Bualjang village in Churachandpur has hampered movement between Churachandpur and Imphal in most part of the day.
The suspected IED, according to the Police, was sighted at around 6.30 am today.
As any form of movement was halted along the road where the bomb was located buried beneath the rubbles near an under construction culvert, it largely caused inconvenience to the public.
Those travelling in public transport through the area have to abandon their vehicles midway and walked on foot to catch another vehicle at the other end while those in private vehicles have to either abandon their travel or have waited till 2 pm.
The absence of a road to divert traffic have also aggravated the inconvenience.
A team of bomb experts deputed from Imphal following a request made by the OC Churachandpur PS to the SP (CID/Technical) have safely removed the bomb at about 2 pm.
Sources said the explosive weight about 10 kg and is a mixture of RDX and TNT.
