Ukhrul all set for Shirui Lily festival

Ukhrul, Oct 14 : The 3rd edition of the Shirui Lily festival 2019 is all set to kick off from October 16 at Ukhrul.
A team of Government officers led by Tourism Commissioner Nidhi Kesarwani including the DC and SP of Ukhrul inspected all the venues and took stock of the work progress.
Union Minister of State and in charge of Tourism and Culture Prahlad Singh Patel will grace the inaugural function as the chief guest at Vangayan at the foothills of Shirui mountain while CM N Biren Singh will attend as the president.
A chopper landing rehearsal ahead of the festival was successfully held today at around 2 pm at Bakshi ground, Ukhrul.
Thousands of visitors from different parts of the country have started pre-registration for Shifest and Shirock while entry pass for Shirock will be issued from tomorrow onwards.
The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), the apex Tangkhul customary body, has also issued separate regulations for the festival.
The TNL while welcoming the visitors or tourists said that a "welcome gate would be erected at Nungshangkong" area on the way to Ukhrul.
A festival badge at the rate of Rs 50 per head would be issued to every visitor as festival mementos.
The TNL further mentioned that there will be no random homestay in isolated places and no night stay tent house in the jungle.
Only homestay arranged by the district administration or reception team is permitted during the festival.
Any person found indulging in immoral activities would be dealt with seriously as per customary law, said TNL.
