Hiyangthang Pallak, Chongtham Kona get tap water

IMPHAL, Oct 20: People of Hiyangthang Pallak and Chongtham Kona villages located within Wangoi AC, Imphal West have been provided tap water at the initiative of local MLA and vice-chairman of Manipur Infrastructure Development Agency (MIDA), Oinam Lukhoi.
Tap water has been provided to Hiyangthang Pallak and Chongtham Kona from Haoreibi Water Supply Scheme and Mutum Phibou Water Supply Scheme respectively from today by extending water pipelines up to the two villages from the two water supply plants.
Speaking to media persons, Oinam Lukhoi said that the  denizens of the two villages didn't have such facilities in the past and fetched water from other sources like rivers, ponds for daily consumption though many well known politicians have been emerged from the constituency.
Stating that all living beings cannot survive without water and many in the remotest areas are living without access to safe and potable water, he urged the populace to use the tap water with utmost care and refrain from wasting it.
Several engineers of PHED also took part in the event.
On the other hand, O Lukhoi has provided LPG connection to 118 beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) during a simple function held at Yumnam Huidrom Thiyam Leishangkhong Community Hall.
On the occasion, the MLA said that PMUY was launched by Prime Minister Narendra in May 2016 to distribute LPG connections to women of BPL families.
Later, O Lukhoi inspected the repairing work of a 12 km long Samurou-Mutum road.
