IMPHAL, Oct 21: Dwellers Tea and Snacks organised a one day Manipur Pop up shop  displaying local products at Dwellers, Lamphel Supermarket today with the motive to promote entrepreneurs and Micro Small & Medium Enterprises of the State.
Products from enterprises  such as Chanu, Dwellers, Forager’s, Forestpick, Hei Lei, Hill Wild, Keithel Express, Meira, Nachom, Sugardairy, Taret, Thangching, Thapos, Veronica bakes and many more were made available in the shop.
Founder of Dwellers Tea and Snakes, Elizabeth Yambem who is also the brainchild behind the one day shop, briefed media persons about her initiative to organise the shop.
Recalling  the inconveniences she faced while applying for a stall at Sangai festival last year, she informed that she did not get the opportunity to open a stall in the festival despite applying for it and added that only people who have contacts with the organisers and higher authority can open a stall in the festival.
She also said that some people even asked extra money to get her a stall in the festival apart from the fee charge by the Government. After the incident, Elizabeth along with other lady entrepreneurs developed the idea to make a common platform for other entrepreneurs and products of the State and to increase the market for local products.
Elizabeth said, “Organising one day shop will not directly benefit the entrepreneurs but it is a platform and an exposure for them and for their products and to develop a connection with the public”.
Festivals are approaching and as such the shop is also a reminder to the public about the products of Manipur which can be presented as a gift in different festivals and occasion, she added.
One individual, Robinson, who came to the shop said that local entrepreneurs should be encouraged.
He also expressed satisfaction after seeing different local products of the State in a single store.
