Manipur Loumee Marup organises rally

BISHNUPUR, Oct 25: Manipur Loumee Marup organised a rally from Oinam Keithel to Oinam SDC office to raise different demands of farmers while an 18 point charter of demand was also submitted to the SDC office.
One of the member of Manipur Loumee Lup sought immediate attention of the authorities concerned on the grievances faced by the farmers of the State.
The Lup demanded compensation for about 59-60 acres of fields, which have been completely damaged as a result of the Loktak project, and to provide irrigation at the paddy fields located between Bishnupur district and Imphal West district through high canal and low canal from the Loktak Life Irrigation project.
It also urged the authorities concerned to construct mini dams at rivers running in Bishnupur district so as to facilitate river life irrigation and provide water to the fields. Students also participated in the rally, reports our correspondent.
The students carried placards demanding free and compulsory education to students from primary to class 12.
