Shehtri Samridhi Utsav inaugurated

Imphal, Oct 25: The 2nd 3- Day  Shehtri Samridhi Utsav Mela of the Manipur Urban Development Agency (MUDA)   in commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi started today at Hatta Kangjeibung, Imphal East.
The  mela is being organised under the sponsorship of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India with the aim to unite all Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) stakeholders and create strong momentum for the Mission by implementing a number of high –impact initiatives.
M Joy Singh, Commissioner, MUDA who attended the inaugural function as chief guest said that the main purpose of organizing the Mela is to showcase and market the products manufactured by Self Help Groups (SHGs) under the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM). It is also a platform for these groups to meet and have healthy discussions about their various products so that they compete in the National level. He stated that due to some technical problems, the previous loan applications were not disbursed. He urged the officers concerned to look into the matter and submit the relevant documents as soon as possible. He asked the MUDA officers to upload the registered SHGs on online portals.
Attending the function as guest of honour, Ravi Solanki, National Mission Manager- MIS-ME, DAY-NULM conveyed that Shehtri Samridhi Utsav Mela is basically a platform to provide component to SHGs. He stated that he is confident to see high quality products of the local SHGs in the National level Shehtri Samridhi Utsav Mela which will be held in Delhi in the later part of February, 2020.
Presiding over the inaugural function, Th Harikumar Singh, MMAS, Director, MUDA stated that the State’s SHGs successfully participated in the first ever Shehtri Samridhi Utsav Mela at Rajghat, Delhi. The products manufactured by these groups were in high demand. He also stated that there is a proposal to sell products on online shopping sites.
The Mela saw a healthy participation of around 100 stalls showcasing food, handloom and handicrafts among others.
