Discussion on 'Merger Agreement 1949' held at Jiribam

Jiribam, Oct 5: JDO, AMSU, JIMPAL, CADA and PPANL Jiribam came together to jointly organize "Discussion on  Merger Agreement 1949 Manipur and India" at the Community Hall of Jiribam Municipal Council situated at Babupara, Jiribam today. The discussion programme was attended by Advocate L Romen Singh, president JDO; E Dewan Singh, Advisor AMSU District Committee Jiribam; H Mema Devi, president  JIMPAL and S Herajit Singh, Gen Secy AIPPC Assam as presidium members.
YK Dhiren Singh, Convener JCILPS Manipur; W Second, president UPF Manipur; Sarat Thokchom, Advisor All Jiribam Working Journalists' Union and Dr Arunkumar Mangang, Assistant Professor Jiri College spoke on the occasion as resource persons.
Speaking at the occasion, all the resource persons pointed out the way the Manipur was merged into the Indian union and also referred to 'Instrument of Accession, August 11, 1947' signed by the then King of Manipur.
They also stressed on the importance of developing pack of intellectuals in the state.
The programme was also attended by various CSOs, students and Meira paibis.
