IMPHAL, Nov 11: A weeklong students' protest under the aegis of COCOMI against the likely impact of the Naga peace talks began today with Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) organising a human chain protest along Canchipur side.
Today, students of Temple Of Learning and Imphal Public School (IPS) formed human chains and raised slogans against any impact to the territory and administrative set up of Manipur as a result of the Naga political issue.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest, AIMS vice president Saikhom Premchand said that the peace talk between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) has resulted in only problems and suffering for the people of Manipur till date.
He then said that the people of Manipur will never accept any compromise to the integrity of the State due to the peace talk and warned that any unwanted incidents which occur in the future in case the sentiment of the people is not respected, will be the sole responsibility of the Centre and the NSCN (IM).
The State Government must not remain silent in this regard as well, he demanded.
Informing that AIMS, under the aegis of COCOMI, has started the weeklong students' protest from today, he appealed to the student community to support the movement  wholeheartedly.
