Charge hearing on December 2

IMPHAL, Nov 11:  Session Court, Imphal East, has fixed December 2 for further proceedings against 8 police personnel in connection with the alleged fake encounter/ extra judicial killing of Md Ishque and Md Mustakim of Lilong Chaobok Mairenkhun on January 18, 2012.
All the charge sheeted cops, then DSP Imphal East commando L Deben of Khoyathong, Imphal East commando Inspector Moirangthem Anand of Thoubal Mayai Leikai, Sub Inspector Kh Sunil of Thoubal Athokpam Mayai Leikai, Head Constable L Robindro of Ithai Leikhong, T Sitaljit of Khurai Chaithabi Leirak and Constable P Herojit of Kongpal Khaidem Leikai , appeared before the Court for the charge hearing along with their respective counsels today. Their counsels submitted that a revision petition was filed before the High Court of Manipur challenging the order passed by the Session Court Imphal East on October 18 (for registering the case and fixing the charge hearing today).
The counsels  informed that as a result the High Court has stayed the proceeding of the case till November 18, and provided a copy of the revision petition passed by the HC to the Court and to Special PP, CBI.
As such, the charge hearing was adjourned and December 2 fixed for the proceeding by the Court. It may be mentioned that the charge sheet against the 8 cops was submitted before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East on June 30 by Investigating Officer VPS Mann, DSP, CBI in the killing of Md Ishque and Md Mustakim on January 18, 2012 at Kyamgei area by a combined team of Imphal East and Imphal West commando. CJM, Imphal East, after taking cognizance of the charge sheet, committed the case before the Session Court Imphal East for trial some months back.
