Bicycle ride

IMPHAL, Nov 17: In the first of its kind for Imphal city, Brevet Populaire - a 100 km International bicycle ride was held today.
The long distance ride organised by Imphal Randonneurs, a division of Manipur Adventure and Mountain Bikers Association (MAAMBA) under the aegis of Audax India Randonneurs started from Kangla Main Gate to Bongyang village and back along the Trans Asian Highway 1, said a statement of the MAAMBA.
Denis Phuritshabam, who recently completed the 200 km  BRM (Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux) at Nashik on June 23, 2019, officiated as the designated 'Ride Responsible' of the Brevet Populaire. A total of 14 riders including two ladies participated in the ride, said MAAMBA.
Brevet Populaire and BRMs are non-competitive long-distance, free-paced cycling events. At least one such event will be held every month in the State, said MAAMBA.
Audax Club Parisien (ACP) based in Paris, France is the international governing body for randonneuring that administers and oversees the conduct of BRMs worldwide.
