AR archery team emerge champions at 8th All India Police Archery C'ship
IMPHAL, Nov 23
The Assam Rifles Archery Team attached with 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), were crowned champions of the 8th All India Police Archery Championship held at Siliguri, West Bengal from November 18 to 23 besides earning the men's team title.
The championship was participated 21 teams from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and State Police Forces, said a press release issued by PRO of IGAR (S). As per the release Assam Rifles Archery Team comprising of 12 men and 6 women took part in the Indian, Recurve and Compound events and sealed the winner’s title with a total haul of five gold, six silver and two bronze medals.
It was Assam Rifles Archery team second successive podium finish in the Championship, the release continued.
The Assam Rifles archers performed exceedingly well by winning medals in both individual as well as team events. In Indian Round individual events, Zhokhoto Demo won three gold medals, and P Heroba Singh won three silver and one bronze medals.
In team event, men’s Indian Round the team won one silver medal and women's team clinched one bronze medal. Meanwhile, in the Recurve Division, the Assam Rifle Archery team clinched one gold medal and N Subhachandra Meitei won two individual silver medals.
In addition, Zhokhoto Demo and Rfn (Mahila) Sapna Kumari bagged one gold medal in mixed team events. Zhokhoto Demo was adjudged best archer of the tournament in men’s category, the release added.
