CHANDEL, Nov 30: Global climate strike, Fridays For Future Campaign was organised by the Centre for Women and Girls (CWG) in collaboration with Corner Stone Academy, Lhunnajang at the academy’s campus yesterday.
Fridays For Future is a movement that began in August 2018, after 15-year-old Greta Thunberg sat in front of the Swedish parliament every school day for three weeks, to protest against the lack of action on the climate crisis. She posted what she was doing on Instagram and Twitter and it soon went viral. On the 8th of September, Greta decided to continue striking every Friday.

Inspired by the protest, about 250 people including students, teachers, parents, and staff of CWG took part in the campaign at the Corner Stone Academy and raised slogans such as: Protect our Earth; There is no Planet B; Parents may die of old age but our children will die of Climate Change; Plant more Trees; Don’t burn my future etc.
During the campaign Hechin Haokip, secretary, CWG talked about how the movement started. A team of District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Chandel led by L Victor DCPO CDL were also present during the campaign.
