65th NSG U-14 Boys Football: Nenaldo, Annaroy star as Manipur romp 6-0 past Punjab

IMPHAL, Nov 5 : N Nenaldo and S Annaroy netted two goals each in Manipur's 6-0 demolition of Punjab in a Group A league match today at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in the ongoing 65th National School Games U-14 Boys Football Tournament hosted by Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Manipur. The win also guaranteed Manipur a place in the last 16 round of the tournament.
Manipur having secured a 6-0 win against Uttarakhand in the opening match yesterday, maintained their cool and scored three goals each side of the break against Punjab. Diruanlung put Manipur ahead in the 6th minute of the match before Y Mahesh doubled the lead in the 22nd minute while S Annaroy grabbed his first goal in the 28th minute to make it 3-0 till the break.
S Annaroy completed his brace in the 42nd minute as Manipur continued to press hapless Punjab despite the huge lead. N Nenaldo then took the honour to hit a brace in the 55th and the 58th minute and closed out the game 6-0.
Manipur will take on Navodaya Vidhyalaya Samit (NVS) which sealed a 5-0 win against Uttarakhand today,  in their last league match which will decide group leaders tomorrow.
NVS rode on S David brace (50', 53') and singles from Tobom Langkam (3'), L Vaiphei (5') and Sanayaima (43') to seal the huge 5-0 win today. NVS also romped to a 6-0 win against Punjab in their opening encounter as Sussai Kishka (22', 34', 48') hit a treble. Letchingthang Vaiphei also found the target twice (54', 57') in this match while Jobom Langkam added once (46').
In a Group C encounter, Delhi which played out a 1-1 draw with Goa yesterday, thrashed CBSE, WSO 6-0 to open up their winning account. Lokesh (43', 44') and Lekhachandra (55', 60') led the scoring with two goals in their names while Shidrat (29') added a single before Anany Dixit of CBSE, WSO conceded an own goal in the 56th minute. In another group C match, Jharkhand blanked Goa 5-0 at Practise Field -1 Khuman Lampak.
Meanwhile in the Group D league match staged at the same venue, Uttar Pradesh drubbed Madhya Pradesh 4-0 to post their second win and ensure a place into the last 16.
Elsewhere in the Group B league match, Chhattisgarh opened up their point account by beating KVS 4-0 as Chandra Sekhar scored twice (37', 41', 53') and Raiesh added a single (45').
KVS and Assam also got walk over as Dadra Nagar team did not turn up.
At Practise Field-2 Khuman Lampak, West Bengal demolished Puducherry 15-0 as Ankur Biswas was in prolific form today and netted 7 goals (10', 11', 40', 42', 51', 52', 56') alone. The other goals from the winning side were scored by Samrat Maity (7'), Prem Soren (14', 29'), Subhajit Majhi (19'), Avijit Barman (44'), Najmul Mallick (47'), Soniram Muru (55') and Aditya Das (59'). The win also helped West Bengal ensure their place in the pre quarter finals from Group F.
Jammu & Kashmir also registered their second win beating Lakshadweep 3-1 in another group F league match.
In the Group E league matches staged at the same venue, Maharashtra and Vidhyabharti played out a 1-1 draw before Chandigarh got the better of Maharashtra 3-0 and Rajasthan notched up 3-0 win against Vidyabharthi.
Meanwhile in the league matches staged at Football Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, Himachal Pradesh upstaged Andhra Pradesh 2-0 (Group G); Bihar overwhelmed Karnataka 12-0 (Group H); Haryana downed Gujarat 2-0 (Group H); IPSC notched up 7-0 win against Andhra Pradesh and Tripura overcame Himachal Pradesh 8-0.
