65th NSG U-14 Boys Football: Rampant Manipur crush NVS 10-0 to storm into last 16

IMPHAL, Nov 6 : In form Manipur wreaked havoc across the defence line up of Navodaya Vidhyalaya Samiti (NVS) to secure an emphatic 10-0 win and book the pre-quarter final ticket in the 65th National School Games U-14 Boys Football Tournament which is underway at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Manipur having earned two 6-0 wins earlier, emerged Group A winners today as S Annaroy (38', 41', 51') and Y Monis (21', 45', 51') breached NVS defence wall at will to pick up three goals each after Nenaldo opened the floodgate early in the 12th minute.
T Olen (46', 53') also contributed 2 goals in this huge win for Manipur besides Kazipmi Awungsi adding a single.
NVS also booked the pre quarter final berth despite today's loss thanks to their earlier emphatic wins against Uttarakhand and Punjab.
In a Group A dead rubber, Uttarakhand downed Punjab 4-1.
From Group B, Assam which finished winners and Chhattisgarh which emerged runners up will be playing into the last 16 round.
Meanwhile from Group C, Jharkhand and Delhi have booked the last 16 round berths as group winners and runners respectively.
Jharkhand emerged group winners after sealing a 2-0 win against Delhi today. Goa which had to miss the last 16 round earned a 6-0 win against CBSE in another Group C league match.
Uttar Pradesh finished Group D winners today with a 3-0 win against Tamil Nadu today. Madhya Pradesh also made their way into the last 16 from the same group..
Goals by Arbeen Thongram  (3') and Harshbir Singh (49') also ensured Chandigarh a place in the last 16 round as Group E winners as Rajasthan finished runners up.
Rajasthan and Maharashtra also played out a goalless draw in the last Group E league match.
West Bengal on the other hand sealed a 1-0 win against Jammu and Kashmir in a clash to decide Group F winners. The lone goal that helped West Bengal top the group was scored by Avijit Barman in the 48th minute of the match after the two sided spent a goalless first half.
In an inconsequential Group F league match, Lakshadweep prevailed 3-0 over Puducherry as Md Azaruddin hit a brace (5', 25') and Md Hashim (46') struck once.
Tripura also stormed into the pre quarter final round as Group G winners as they trounced Andhra Pradesh 6-0 in the last league match today thanks to Sukhu Dayal Jamatia treble (1', 3', 17'). The other goals for the winning side was scored by Rajesh Chakraborty, Stephen Darlong and Biru Deb Barma.
IPSC also notched up a 6-0 win against Himachal Pradesh to finish Group G runners and book the last 16 round berth. Sylvan scored twice, the first in the 47th minute before rounding off the scoring stoppage time while Lobsang, K Chera, Kunal Kuwasi and Khris Jain added a goal each to set up the huge win.
Meanwhile, Haryana and Bihar made it to the last 16 round from Group H although Haryana down Bihar 2-0 today in the last league match. Arjun handed Haryana the lead in the 14th minute of the match while Ishu netted the other goal during the additional time of the first half (30+1').
Bihar's Shitansh Prajapati was sent off for his violent conduct by the referee during the additional time of the first half.
In another group H league match, Gujarat and Karnataka played out a 2-2 draw.
