IMPHAL, Dec 14: Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD) Minister Karam Shyam has assured the public of Manipur that the State still has petrol and diesel reserves to last 5 days even though no new fuel could be brought into the State due to the unrest gripping Assam on the issue of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019.
Due to the fuel shortage, some retail outlets have stopped giving fuel while few others are still opened, and long queues could be seen even late into the evening.
Speaking to media persons, CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam said that the Government has made necessary preparations to distribute fuels to the people through petrol pumps on rotational basis. He explained that the pumps will provide 3 litres of fuel to two wheelers, 5 litres to four wheelers and 10 litres to trucks and other heavy vehicles. Announcing a ban on taking fuels in containers with immediate effect so as to avoid malpractices, the Minister urged the retail outlets to refrain from indulging in unethical practices in the interest of the public.
